Oestrogen receptor assay result

Definition

The results of an oestrogen receptor test. The test is used to find out if cancer cells have oestrogen receptors (proteins to which oestrogen will bind). If the cells have oestrogen receptors, they may need oestrogen to grow, and this may affect how the cancer is treated.
