The incidence of low birthweight among liveborn singleton babies of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mothers and other mothers
Indicator Summary
Low birthweight is defined as less than 2,500 grams.
Excludes multiple births, stillbirths and births with unknown birthweight or unknown gestational age.
Analysis by state/territory, remoteness and SEIFA Index of Relative Socioeconomic Disadvantage (IRSD) is based on usual residence of the mother.
Data excludes Australian non-residents, residents of external territories and records where state/territory of residence was not stated.
